101 goals in 1001 days
all the cool kids are doing it, so i am too: i’m putting together a list of 101 goals for myself, to be completed in 1,001 days. so far i only have about 40 goals, but that’s okay. here they are, censored a bit for privacy…
- Don’t drink any soda for six months straight.
- Don’t drink any soda for one year straight.
- Go down one size every 3 to 6 months. (0/5)
- Take one college class on any subject.
- Finish Jef’s big cross-stitch present.
- Read 70 books that I already own but have never read. (0/70)
- Host a dinner party for which I cook everything from scratch.
- Take a dance class alone or with Jef.
- Do the Apple Cider Century once.
- Go for 75 bike rides in the city. (0/75)
- Read two chapters of Harry Potter in Greek.
- Spend a week in Europe.
- Pay off all credit cards and don’t run up balances again. (1/3)
- Pay off $10,000 of school loans. ($0/$10,000)
- Repay $10,000 of house down payment to Jef. ($0/$10,000)
- Start an investment account for retirement and contribute $5,000. ($0/$5,000)
- Put $5,000 in an IRA or Roth. ($0/$5,000)
- Reconnect with one high school friend.
- Reconnect with one college friend.
- Write a series of 20 stories of my church experience. (0/20)
- Eat vegan for one month straight.
- Design and make a 60s-style dress for myself.
- Eat 3 servings of vegetables every day. (0/1,001)
- Mumble mumble mumble.
- Get contacts.
- Do a chin-up.
- Squat my weight as a one-rep max.
- Visit Canada.
- Finish Harvest Moon.
- Install crown molding, plate rail, and baseboards throughout house.
- Completely declutter the house and keep it that way.
- Make tarte aux poires en cage.
- Bake and decorate a tiered cake.
- Go cross-country skiing.
- Create a reading nook somewhere in the house.
- Hike through a state or national park.
- Grow a veggie garden.
- Decide on a career path (writing, IA, or content management).
- Get three steady clients.
- Finish the “candle in the wind” project. (more on this later)
- Learn to cook six Indian dishes. (0/6)
i do have other goals, but i’m not sure how to break them up or word them yet. jef and i have a lot planned for the house, but somehow “rebuild the chimney” doesn’t seem to fit on this list … kinda like “brush my teeth every day” doesn’t.
if today is the official start date, the end date will be february 27, 2010. and now, i’m going to go work on #6 and #31.
